Einat .S, a Greener, sent me this Link (10X) , I'ts the 3rd tiime I get it and it seems to be the Croud, the eco feirndly surfers are voting with there nouse.

Blackle.com is a dark skin Google search page. that should save some energy from your screen.

the amazing thing is that this webpage had become soo popular in the last few month 10X to the green wash we have been receiving latly.

Yes, It has logic, but the main thing is the Viral assitatant this website gets from ceoncerned users froma all ovue the world.

If Google had a black screen, taking in account the huge number of page views, according to calculations, 750 mega watts/hour per year would be saved. In response Google created a black version of its search engine, called Blackle, with the exact same functions as the white version, but obviously with lower energy consumption .

I got this email too, about three months ago. I checked around on the web to verify - the energy savings are only if you are using a CRT (cathod-ray tube) monitor and not an LCD (which are the majority of monitors today). In fact, according to one tester, the LCD monitors use more energy with the black Google page.
(The same engineer points out that screen savers don't save any energy, for the same reason, and it's best to put your computer into Hibernate mode and turn off the monitor).
